Frankly speaking, I’m a lazy man, I often forget to backup my WordPress and I hate to manual backup the data and all the images files at intervals，once my VPS is crash so that I have lost all my data and image files, it made me crack up, until I found BackWPup plugin. 🙂
Now I use BackWPup plugin and Dropbox to backup all my WordPress sites, that’s so great! The plugin will auto backup the data and files and upload the file to my dropbox, then, the dropbox will auto-sync all the backup files to my local computer! Now I would like to share my experience to you.
Intalling the BackWPup plugin and sign up the dropbox.
It’s neccessary to install the dropbox application on your local computer (You can download it here: https://www.dropbox.com/downloading)
Configure the plugin settings
First of all, after you installed the BackWPup plugin, you will see the plugin option appeared at the bottom of the left side, just go to setting page, you can change the default setting according to your needs.
Connect to the dropbox
This is the most important step, go to add new job, and under general tab, you will find “Job Destination”, there are many backup method options, check “dropbox” and save it.
Then you will find a new tab “To: Dropbox” is appeared, click “Authenticate(Full Dropbpx)”, the page will link to the dropbox, you need to login your dropbox account and allow the plugin connect request.
After you authenticated, set the backup path in “folder in dropbox” field, just filling the backup folder path in this field, save changes.
Schedule auto backup
Click “Schedule” tab, just set the time as the following picture:
That’s it! The plugin will auto backup the wordpress at 3:00 am in every day! Hope this article can help you a lot.
